In Hardship

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ رَبُّ السَّمَوَاتِ وَرَبُّ الْأَرْضِ وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ

Lā ilāha illallāhul-ʿaẓīmul-ḥalīm. Lā ilāha illallāhu rabbul-ʿarshil-ʿaẓīm. Lā ilāha illallāhu rabbus-samāwāti wa rabbul-arḍi wa rabbul-ʿarshil-karīm.

None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Magnificent, the Forbearing. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, Lord of the Magnificent Throne. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth, and Lord of the Noble Throne.

اللَّهُمَّ رَحْمَتَكَ أَرْجُو، فَلَا تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ، وَأَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

Allāhumma raḥmataka arjū, falā takilnī ilā nafsī ṭarfata ʿayn, wa aṣliḥ lī shaʾnī kullah, lā ilāha illā ant.

O Allah, I hope for Your mercy. Do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye. Correct all of my affairs for me. There is none worthy of worship but You.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي عَبْدُكَ، ابْنُ عَبْدِكَ، ابْنُ أَمَتِكَ، نَاصِيَتِي بِيَدِكَ، مَاضٍ فِيَّ حُكْمُكَ، عَدْلٌ فِيَّ قَضَاؤُكَ، أَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ هُوَ لَكَ، سَمَّيْتَ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ، أَوْ أَنْزَلْتَهُ فِي كِتَابِكَ، أَوْ عَلَّمْتَهُ أَحَدًا مِنْ خَلْقِكَ، أَوِ اسْتَأْثَرْتَ بِهِ فِي عِلْمِ الْغَيْبِ عِنْدَكَ، أَنْ تَجْعَلَ الْقُرْآنَ رَبِيعَ قَلْبِي، وَنُورَ صَدْرِي، وَجَلَاءَ حُزْنِي، وَذَهَابَ هَمِّي

Allāhumma innī ʿabduk, ibnu ʿabdik, ibnu amatik, nāṣiyatī biyadik, māḍin fiyya ḥukmuk, ʿadlun fiyya qaḍāʾuk, asʾaluka bikulli-smin huwa lak, sammayta bihi nafsak, aw anzaltahu fī kitābik, aw ʿallamtahu aḥadan min khalqik, awi-staʾtharta bihi fī ʿilmil-ghaybi ʿindak, an tajʿalal-Qurʾāna rabīʿa qalbī, wa nūra ṣadrī, wa jalāʾa ḥuznī, wa dhahāba hammī.

O Allah, I am Your slave, son of Your male slave, son of Your female slave. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is forever executed and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my distress.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَجْعَلُكَ فِي نُحُورِهِمْ، وَنَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شُرُورِهِمْ

Allāhumma innā najʿaluka fī nuḥūrihim, wa naʿūdhu bika min shurūrihim.

O Allah, we place You in front of them and seek refuge in You from their evils.

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ عَضُدِي، وَأَنْتَ نَصِيرِي، وَبِكَ أُقَاتِلُ

Allāhumma anta ʿaḍudī, wa anta naṣīrī, wa bika uqātil.

O Allah, You are my strength and You are my helper, and through You I fight.

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي، وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا

Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn. Allāhumma ʾjurnī fī muṣībatī, wa akhlif lī khayran minhā.

Truly, we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. O Allah, reward me in my affliction and replace it with something better.

اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

Allāhumma akfinī biḥalālika ʿan ḥarāmik, wa aghnīnī bifaḍlika ʿamman siwāk.

O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful so I have no need of what is unlawful, and enrich me by Your bounty so I have no need of anyone other than You.

أُعِيذُكَ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّةِ، مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ

Uʿīdhuka bikalimātillāhit-tāmmah, min kulli shayṭānin wa hāmmah, wa min kulli ʿaynin lāmmah.

I seek protection for you in the perfect words of Allah, from every devil and every poisonous creature, and from every evil eye.

بِسْمِ اللهِ، تُرْبَةُ أَرْضِنَا، بِرِيقَةِ بَعْضِنَا، يُشْفَى بِهِ سَقِيمُنَا، بِإِذْنِ رَبِّنَا

Bismillāh, turbatu arḍinā, birīqati baʿḍinā, yushfā bihi saqīmunā, biʾidhni rabbinā.

In the name of Allah — the soil of our land, mixed with the saliva of one of us, will cure our sick, by the permission of our Lord.

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ النَّاسِ، أَذْهِبِ الْبَاسَ، وَاشْفِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي، لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ، شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا

Allāhumma rabban-nāsi, adhhibilbās, washfi antas-shāfī, lā shifāʾa illā shifāʾuk, shifāʾan lā yughādiru saqamā.

O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the affliction and heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing — a healing that leaves behind no illness.

أَسْأَلُ اللهَ الْعَظِيمَ، رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، أَنْ يَشْفِيَكَ

Asʾalullāhal-ʿaẓīm, rabbal-ʿarshil-ʿaẓīm, an yashfiyak.

I ask Allah the Magnificent, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to heal you.

لَا بَأْسَ، طَهُورٌ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ

Lā baʾs, ṭahūrun in shāʾallāh.

No harm — it is a purification, if Allah wills.

أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

Aʿūdhu billāhi minash-shayṭānir-rajīm.

I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed devil.

اللَّهُمَّ لَا يَأْتِي بِالْحَسَنَاتِ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، وَلَا يَدْفَعُ السَّيِّئَاتِ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِكَ

Allāhumma lā yaʾtī bil-ḥasanāti illā ant, wa lā yadfiʿus-sayyiʾāti illā ant, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā bik.

O Allah, none brings good except You, and none wards off evil except You, and there is no might nor power except through You.
